20 YEARS TOGETHER WITH KAZAKHSTAN’S AGRIBUSINESS: AGROWORLD QAZAQSTAN CELEBRATES ITS ANNIVERSARY

FROM OCTOBER 28 TO 30, ALMATY WILL HOST THE ANNIVERSARY 20TH INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURE EXHIBITION – AGROWORLD QAZAQSTAN 2026. OVER TWO DECADES, THE PROJECT HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER MORE THAN 4,000 COMPANIES FROM 30 COUNTRIES AND OVER 32,000 INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS.  

Today, Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector is experiencing one of its most active investment periods in recent years. In the first half of 2026 alone, investment in the fixed capital of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector reached KZT 926 billion – 55% more than a year earlier. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, this figure may reach KZT 2.2 trillion by the end of the year. A further KZT 750 billion in 2026 has been allocated for concessional financing of spring fieldwork and harvesting, while funding for subsidised leasing of agricultural machinery has increased from KZT 250 billion to KZT 350 billion.

It is against this backdrop that AgroWorld Qazaqstan is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Whereas two decades ago one of the main objectives of industry exhibitions was to introduce Kazakhstani agricultural producers to foreign technologies and equipment, today the market’s needs are considerably broader: automation and artificial intelligence, water conservation, effective fertilisers, modern genetics, high-quality seed material, feed technologies, processing, climate solutions and access to financing.

The anniversary exhibition will continue to expand its international reach: more than 180 companies from over 20 countries have confirmed their participation in 2026. National pavilions will be presented by Germany, Georgia, the Netherlands and South Korea, while regional stands from Russia will also be featured. Leading agricultural brands have already joined us – the following companies will present their stands at a single venue: Amazone, Barakat Agro, Big Dutchman, Biochem, Cargill, FACCO, FAMSUN, FEEDKAZ, Giordano Poultry, IGLOSZRON, Kelp Blue Biotech, Metzer, NUTRIMAX, POULTEC, SAVORY, KELET, Alemvet, A-Profil, Biovet-K, VSO PROFIL, Doctor Farmer TD, Irrigator (METZER), NEOFORCE Group, PROFHOLOD, ERIDON Kazakhstan and others.

Poultry Farming: Exhibition Sector Has Quadrupled

One of the most notable changes at AgroWorld Qazaqstan has been the development of its poultry farming segment. This sector has enjoyed exclusive representation at the venue throughout the exhibition’s 20-year history, but over the past five years the poultry farming section of the exhibition has quadrupled in size. This growth mirrors the developments taking place within the industry itself.

Over five years, poultry meat production in Kazakhstan increased by 58% – from 235,300 tonnes in 2020 to 371,700 tonnes at the end of 2025. Over the same period, the share of domestically produced goods in the domestic market rose from 58% to 78%. Today, the country has 32 meat-production enterprises with a combined capacity of 505,000 tonnes per year and 37 industrial egg-producing poultry farms.

The new investment cycle is particularly evident in the south of the country – a region whose audience traditionally accounts for a significant proportion of AgroWorld Qazaqstan visitors.

Construction is beginning in the Turkistan Region on a new poultry farm worth KZT 9 billion, which will produce broiler meat and 34.9 million eggs per year. Another major project involves the establishment of a vertically integrated complex worth KZT 52.9 billion, which will gradually reach an annual poultry meat production capacity of 48,000 tonnes.

Consequently, at the anniversary edition of AgroWorld Qazaqstan, poultry farming is no longer a narrowly specialised section but one of the exhibition’s most dynamic segments. It will showcase housing and feeding technologies, poultry farm equipment, veterinary solutions, genetics and other products for industrial production.

From Fertilisers and Seeds to AI

However, the needs of agribusinesses in the southern regions are considerably broader today. The exhibition will cover crop production, livestock farming, animal feed, grain and fertilisers, greenhouse farming and horticulture, irrigation, processing, agricultural machinery, construction, storage and logistics for agricultural products.

Particular emphasis will be placed on fertilisers and improving crop production efficiency. In 2026, Kazakhstan plans to apply 2.3 million tonnes of fertilisers – 500,000 tonnes more than a year earlier. At the same time, new production facilities are being developed in the country: the next stage of a major chemical project involving the production of mineral fertilisers is being implemented in the Zhambyl Region, while a project to build a compound fertiliser plant is under way in the Zhetysu Region within the Khorgos – Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone.

Business Programme – What Agribusiness Needs Right Now

In the anniversary year, the organisers are placing particular emphasis on the business programme. It is structured not around general discussions about the future of agriculture, but around the issues currently faced by farms and agricultural companies.

On October 28, the programme will open with the plenary session “Digital Transformation of the Agro-Industrial Sector: Technologies Changing Agribusiness”. The discussion will focus on the practical application of artificial intelligence, the economic impact of digital solutions and the barriers that continue to hinder the widespread adoption of AgTech in Kazakhstan.

This will be followed by a dedicated strategic session on irrigation management, water security, the digitalisation of water distribution and new mechanisms for improving water-use efficiency. Representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Kazvodkhoz, the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and international financial institutions are expected to take part in the discussion.

Another new programme segment is Women in AgroBusiness, which will address investment, exports, processing, digitalisation and the role of a new generation of leaders in the agro-industrial sector. The programme will also include an ESG session on climate economics and carbon farming, including the question of whether farmers can generate income not only from their crops but also from carbon sequestration in the soil.

On October 29, the programme will continue with the Feed Forum and the Farmers’ School. A separate session will focus on the quality of planting material and in vitro clonal micropropagation technology for greenhouse and berry-growing businesses. On October 30, the Farmers’ School will continue its work, and consultations on lending and leasing are also scheduled.

In addition to the exhibition and business programme, B2B and B2G meetings, exhibition tours, negotiations, memorandum-signing ceremonies and anniversary events are planned.

20 Years – and an Entirely Different Agribusiness Sector

During the existence of AgroWorld Qazaqstan, it is not only the scale of the exhibition that has changed – the market for which it is held has changed as well.

Kazakhstan’s agribusiness sector is now investing in large poultry complexes, the advanced processing of agricultural raw materials, modern irrigation systems, new fertiliser production facilities and digital technologies. For example, a single advanced corn-processing project involving China’s Fufeng is valued at KZT 175 billion and provides for the production of amino acids, starch, glucose, animal feed and fertilisers, with products to be exported to China and Europe.

At the same time, technologies are no longer required only by major agricultural holdings. They are needed by farmers seeking to reduce their dependence on water; greenhouse operators requiring healthy planting material; poultry farms increasing their output; crop-production enterprises looking for more efficient plant nutrition systems; and companies planning to engage in processing or exports.

This transition – from becoming acquainted with technologies to implementing them in practice – perhaps best describes the 20-year history of AgroWorld Qazaqstan.
